boston bruins winning series 3-0

My friends, this is getting UNREAL.

It’s been a long, long time since it’s been this much fun watching hockey around here. The Montreal series last year gave us a taste but it was short lived. This is different. Here there be Mojo. The Bruins are on the verge of going to their first Eastern Conference Finals since 1992. This Friday they can attempt the feat via a sweep of their Semi-Final opponent the Philadelphia Flyers thanks to a defensive clinic and some timely goal scoring tonight in Game 3.

The Flyers looked beaten already by the end of the game. Certainly their fans felt that way as, with about three minutes to go and the score only 3-1, they began to head to the exits of the Wachovia Center in droves. I would taunt them for being people of little faith and loyalty but they were right. There was no chance the Flyers were getting through the Wall of Defense the Bruins put up in that third period.

Final score 4-1 and a 3-0 stranglehold on this series.

The only bad news is that, early in the first period, seconds before Miro Satan scored to make it a 2-1 game, the Bruins lost David Krejci to a nasty open-ice hit from Mike Richards. It was a clean hit but Krejci was caught awkwardly and appeared to injure his shoulder badly. He did not return to the game and Claude Julien stated in his post-game comments that he was being evaluated at a hospital.

With any luck, he and the team will have a little extra down time to get him healthy and ready for the next chapter in this amazing tale.

The Story So Far, you must admit, has been pretty damn good.
