Evander Kane: Boston’s New Hockey Hero

Y’know, it’s sad when bad things happen to good people.

Thankfully, this wasn’t a case of that.

Matt Cooke, NHL cheap shot artist extraordinaire and proven Dirty Fucker, eats a good clean one-puncher Saturday night courtesy of the right fist of the Thrasher’s Evander Kane.

No more deserving knock-out has ever been issued, as far as I’m concerned. Hopefully, Cooke has a maximum level concussion and will suffer chronic symptoms that will end his playing career. I don’t feel guilty about actually cheering, for the first time in my entire life, the fact that a man was injured and incapacitated down on the ice. What bastard ever deserved it more?

Evander Kane, please come to Boston this summer.

620,000 people would like to buy you a beer.

My eternal thanks to the nightly for bringing this to my attention today and making my 2010.

Aw…I’d have passed this to you on Twitter last night but thought you’d seen it already. Everyone loved it! I don’t know if he was actually injured, since he got up, but I wouldn’t have minded if he had been. Nice job from Kane on only his 2nd NHL fight!

Deadspin has a great picture of Kane’s fist to Cooke’s jaw.
